- Le Chinaillon, situated at 1300 metres in the Haute-Savoie region of the French Alps, is 1 hour by car from Geneva (45 kms) and 40 minutes from Annecy (32kms).
- Le Chinaillon is renowned as a family friendly ski resort, offering 90kms of runs to suit all abilities, as well as numerous opportunities for off piste skiing. A ski bus link to La Clusaz (also a part of the Aravis ski area) extends this to 220 kms.
- A 50 metre walk from La Ferme de Serge takes you straight onto the piste with ski lifts ‘Outalays' and ‘Gettiers' easily accessible. (see map)
- Ski hire is a 5 minute walk away and equipment can be left overnight. Situated at the bottom of the piste, next to the ski pass office and childrens' jardin de neige, it couldn't be more convenient.
- Snowboarding is popular in the resort too and Le Chinaillon's purpose built snowpark is listed as one of the top five in France.
- There is extensive cross country skiing in Le Chinaillon and Le Grand Bornand as well as snowy walking paths particularly suited to raquettes, which you can take with or without a guide.
- Resort ‘extras' include night skiing, paragliding, ice skating in Le Grand Bornand and a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool in La Clusaz. There is also a weekly market held in the pretty square at Le Grand Bornand.
- For the very young who are not yet ready to take to the slopes a Nursery in the centre of Le Chinaillon offers fully qualified all day care. (Booking essential in high season)
- Shops in Le Chinaillon (including a small supermarket) are a 10-15 minute walk away, as are a variety of restaurants and bars to enjoy.
- The Summer opens up a wealth of outdoor activities to choose from: Walking, biking, pony trekking, paragliding and rock climbing (via ferrata) in the mountains. Swimming at the outdoor lido, tennis, golf, trampolining and archery are just some of the activities on offer in Le Grand Bornand, not forgetting a whole selection of water sports on Lake Annecy - the cleanest lake in Europe. Every year in late August Le Grand Bornand hosts 'Au Bonheur des Mômes' - one of the biggest childrens' festivals in Europe. The surrounding mountains challenge the best of the cyclists in ‘Le Tour de France' and have become a regular feature of the race.
